Imagine that Lithuania was not hit by the greatest disaster of the 20th century. catastrophe: the country was not occupied and avoided the horrors of World War II. Imagine that the life of an independent state continued, full of political realities, economic reforms, sports competitions and rock and roll frenzy. The summer of 1968 came to the fore in the absent calendar, which brought many changes: as the generation of old politicians gave up their positions, stormy youth protests arose, disputes over the memory of Antanas Smetona, hippie ideology spread in art, and the decisions of the Second Vatican Council reached the country’s churches. An entire era started receding into the past, the world was changing from Vilnius to Lisbon and even… Angola.

The car museum is located in an exclusive object of industrial heritage – in the old Vilnius taxi park, reminiscent of the 1970s, in the Naujininkai microdistrict. During the Soviet era, almost 800 taxis “buzzed” here, the taxi park administration, car repair workshops, car washes, garages, gas station and checkpoint operated here. Now there is a private, largest museum of historical transport equipment in Lithuania, whose exhibits reflect not only the global history of automobiles, but also tell the history of Lithuania in a new way.
