1918-1990 Lithuania through the car window

On the festive weekend of March 11, we invite you to an extraordinary journey through time through 1918-1990 Lithuania.
Interesting facts of Lithuanian history will be revealed to you by our exhibits, and the tour guides will be the guides of the museum.
Waiting for you:
• breathtaking stories of battles and equipment that became trophies,
• the opportunity to see what the presidents of the country drove in 1918-1990,
• stories about why Kazys Grinius didn’t like Delaunay Belleville, and Algirdas Mykols Brazauskas didn’t like the leather interior,
• the last summer of 1940, researching a BSA motorcycle that traveled the roads of Šiauliai or looking for one’s street and district on the map of Vilnius that was only available for a month,
• an opportunity to see what the old “driver’s license” looked like, the witnesses of the historic drive “Around Lithuania”, the first book about motoring or the detail of the legendary ANBO 41 by Antanas Gustaitis,
• the history of the first gas stations in Lithuania, from skype rental, operational brands to fuel prices,
• a fun discussion with the guides about why Lithuanian fuel was diluted with ethyl alcohol,
• getting to know the story of Antanas Ilgauskas. You will find out why the most famous interwar pioneer of motorcycle sports was exiled to Vorkuta, and when he returned he became a symbol of freedom in Soviet Lithuania.
• In 1990, oilmen and the head of the restored state of Lithuania Vytautas Landsbergis drove a car.
